Every new Tesonway humidor must be seasoned before first use - this is not optional. Unseasoned Spanish cedar will aggressively absorb moisture from your cigars, causing irreversible flavor damage. Follow our 6-step proven method below.
The Essential 6-Step Seasoning Process
Step 1: Prepare the Cedar Surfaces
Using a lint-free cloth, gently wipe all interior Spanish cedar surfaces. Focus on joints and corners where wood is most absorbent.
Step 2: Hydrate the Interior
Soak a sponge in distilled water (never tap water), wring to damp state, and wipe all internal surfaces. Repeat monthly for maintenance.
Step 3: The Drying Phase
Leave humidor open for 48-72 hours in a stable environment (18-21°C). This allows wood to uniformly absorb moisture.
Step 4: Prepare Humidifier
Add 15-30ml distilled water to humidifier. Wipe exterior thoroughly to prevent water spots on cigars.
Step 5: Install Humidification
Place humidifier in the center of the humidor. Avoid direct contact with cigars or wood surfaces.
Step 6: Final Sealing & Storage
Close humidor securely. Store in a dark place at 18-21°C. Do not open for 7 days to stabilize humidity.

Is seasoning mandatory for new Tesonway humidors?
Absolutely yes. Our humidors ship unseasoned to prevent mold during transit. Seasoning activates the Spanish cedar's humidity regulation properties - skipping this will damage your cigars.
How often should I wipe the interior?
For optimal maintenance:
- Monthly: Light wipe with distilled water sponge
- Quarterly: Deep cleaning with cedar-safe solution
Always avoid chemical cleaners.
Can I use bottled water instead of distilled?
No. Minerals in bottled water will clog humidifier vents and leave residues. Distilled water only - it's chemically pure H₂O.
How to Adjusting the Hygrometer?
Try this solution to fix hygrometer:
Step 1: Pull it off.
Step 2: Look for a flathead-shaped groove inside the hole on the back of the hygrometer.
Step 3: Insert a flathead screwdriver into the groove and adjust the needle to 65% humidity. Then blow air through the hole.
Step 4: Once the needle moves, reinstall the hygrometer. After some time, it will automatically calibrate to an accurate reading.
If problems persist after calibration, season the humidor again.
